Aseprite, the perfect tool to create pixel art for your game!

 From pixel to hero!

It is well known that there are a lot of editors around the web to make pixel art, Piskel, 

Lospec Pixel Editor, Krita...heck! you can even use Paint to create pixel art! Despite all of 

that though, there is a certain software that gets the crown, and that chosen one is Aseprite

 


In this entry,  i will explain some of the main features of Aseprite, as well as it´s upsides and

downsides when you use it, let`s get started!

Main features 

Aseprite is basically a pixel art playground. The interface is simple, clean, and made

specifically for pixel art with an adapatable canvas. Some of it`s amazing properties 

include:

-Easy exporting for sprite sheets or GIFs  

-A bunch of pixel-friendly tools like shading, dithering, and pixel-perfect pen

-Onion skinning (so you can see your previous and next frames while animating)

-A timeline for animation (frame-by-frame animation)


Advantages

-The pixel perfect feature allows for accurate traces and movements

-It runs pretty smoothly in most hardware, so it is quite available for everyone

-There are a lot of communities and tutorials dude to the popularity of Aseprite as a whole

-The user interface is easy to navegate


 

Disadvantages 

-The layer system is hard to understand sometimes

-It isn`t free. It costs 20$ in order to get it

-You can only use it for pixel art 

Final thoughts

Aseprite is 100% worth it. It makes animation super smooth, helps you stay organized, and

 doesn’t get in the way of the user. It’s focused, fast, and honestly just fun to use.
