English as a way to learn about gamedev

In this blog post i will explain how the English works as a way to enhance your experience to learn 

more of game development. I will expose some resources that are available only in English and how 

this language works as an universal way to spread information.


Why is English important?

One could say that English has kept his relevance throughout all around the world due to it´s influence 

in the past. However, it doesn`t matter if that is true or not, the fact is that English has turned into 

the most spoken dialecs of the entire planet and that is why a lot of websites, articles, forums and 

more are in that language. So, all of that leads us into learning more of it.


 

 

 Important resources for game developers only available in English

Within the internet there is a lot media useful to learn the way to develop assets for your 

own videogame. Here are some clear examples:

Famitracker: An useful app to compose music for your games, you have to read the 

documentation in English to understand it.

 

 

TIGSourceForums: It´s one of the most important places to learn about the making of games in 

general, for example, the forums host information about programmig, game design, art and more!. If 

you really want to grow as an independent game developer, then the TIG forums are your ideal

playground to grow in knowledge.

 itch.io: If you are looking for the best place to upload your game, the itch.io is your place! With 


a great library that contans thousands of videogames, this site is the best to promote your game to the

maximum, so give it a shot!

 

To conclude...

There are a lot of useful resources and apps, yet most of them are only in english!. Don`t discourage 

though! a language barrier isn`t enough to stop a developer so keep growing to improve your game and

progress in the industry.
